REFLECTION ON WALKATHON

Walkathon is a new activity which was held in my school. This activity gave chance to all the students of my school to be physically fit. Basically the organization of this activity was done by all DP students under the guidance of our CAS advisor, Jackson Joy. Different students had different role to perform such as arrangement of glucose, water ,first aid, doctors , ambulance etc.
The walk was of 5km for both MYP and DP students whereas the walk for PYP students was of 3km. However every student participated actively and had tried their level best to walk continuously without taking rest in between of the way.

Firstly, we DP students started the walk after listening to the rules and instruction. As we started we realized that it was not an easy task as we were getting tired a lot and our legs were paining. But still none of us stopped although everyone’s speed was differencing. Someone was ahead or someone behind.

When I started the walk I was very active for first 3km and I was walking at the same speed with my friend but after that I could not keep up with that same speed but I continued to walk.

My aim was to participate and complete the walk of 5km. I did not think of winning or losing instead I felt that participation by following rules and regulation is much more important.

The learning outcome is that I have understood that I have a strength to walk for 5km and more. Also I have come to know that walking collaboratively encourages and does not make me feel tired or an idea of giving up. The ethical issue involved in this activity is that it did not harm anyone nor it has polluted the environment. Instead it helped everyone in maintaining their health. This is a major issue of concern nowadays as everyone’s lifestyle is changing rapidly. Today everyone's attraction is towards fast-food, technology etc. The craze of games, exercises have been declining. Therefore Walkathon has given chance for everyone to be physically fit.

REFLECTION ON TEACHING STUDENTS OF ASHRAM

This time my two friends and I reached before all other friends so we started the class earlier than others under the supervision of Mrs. Purva Jha This time one of my students was not well so I had only one student to teach. To my surprise since last two weeks Bhushan has been very active in learning and listening to my guidance.

He had plans to learn mathematics so I started with the topic of Indices. Indices are the major topic that is needed to learn as it has its application in higher classes also. Since this was a new topic to him and also this was not taught in the class so I thought I should just introduce the lesson and teach few sums based on first concept.

Basically indices mean exponents, power and it is mainly called as raised to the power of. For example 52 will be read as 5 raised to the power 2.
My task was to teach him the meaning of exponent and what does it mean. So I explained him that power means the number of time base needs to be multiplied. In the above example, 5 is the base and 2 is the exponent or index. Therefore 5 needs to multiplied two times as power is 2.

This gave him clear idea and then as I gave him the few sums, he was able to solve. The difficulty level arises when base was in fraction. For example, (½)2. Here he was getting confused, so I solved few sums like that and explained it to him.
Then I gave him the questions based on same type. He solved all questions nicely. Then I felt relaxed and I ended the class.

The learning outcome is that I have understood that I am able to teach child in way, which is easy for him to understand. I have become aware that few concepts needs to be taught in slow speed and needs to be explained with different examples for better learning and understanding of the child. The ethical issue involved is that I am able to give knowledge to student, which will make him a good citizen of the country.

REFLECTION ON TEACHING STUDENTS OF ASHRAM

Another visit to ashram. This time we were supervised by our physics, chemistry teacher Mr. Prashant Pandey. When I went there, I realized that my students are happy to learn from me as they were eagerly waiting for me. They instantly told me that we want you to explain us the Hindi poem. They also commented that we like the way you explain. So I felt pleased and then I started explaining the poem, which was about that nothing can be gained easily in this world.

The poem was beautifully structured with very deep meaning. It says that cutting trees, making angry someone is very easy but planting a tree and making someone happy is very difficult. It also tells us that achieving things is not easy, one needs to go through the difficulties and obstacles to achieve fruitful response.

After explanation of this poem, I questioned them on many real and general aspects like what will happen if your mother wants you to get good marks? Also how will you keep her happy?

These questions helped him to gain better understanding of this poem. After the completion of this poem, I gave him the task of writing his own reflection on this poem.

On reading his reflection, I felt he has used his own real life experience and feelings to explain the meaning of poem. After this task, I taught him few problems on division and then we ended the class for that day.

The learning outcomes involved in this activity is that I become aware  that every child has its own imagination, which does not need to be taught. I also became aware of his skill. Basically writing reflection is a task in my own curriculum. So I have just tried to teach him in that same manner. I learned that I have strength of explaining things to a child properly, which helps him a lot in his interpretation of various topics. I become aware of my strength as well as through this task, i developed a new skill of teaching. Also, the ethical implication involved in this task is that education is been promoted, which is beneficial for the development of child and nation as well.

REFLECTION ON ALL SCHOOL ACTIVITIES.

There were lot many activities in which I took part. For example, Teacher's Day celebration, inter-house Debate competition, Hindi Divas and Literacy day celebration.

All these activities gave me chance to enhance as well as acquire new skills. For Teacher's Day celebration,I acted as an organizer. I have organized all the events such as Fashion show by PYP students ,dance by MYP students, Quiz by a DP student. I have also given duties to various office barriers for sitting arrangement, cards for all teachers as well as I have given duty to all DP students to handle all students that day.All DP students took in-charge of teaching various different subjects to whole school.I taught various poems, songs based on Hindi subject.
I also did anchoring of whole event, which started at 9.10am and ended by 10.20am.
This was the first time that I did anchoring. Before real anchoring in school, I did lot of practice at home. I saw various video on you tube to understand how the anchors do their job.

As I have already practiced at home,I had lot of confidence while I was doing actual anchoring. After anchoring was done, I got lot many good comments from my teachers, which made me feel that I have done good job.
Inter-house debate competition gave me a new skill about how to keep the main points of debate in-front of audience, also type of tone and confidence required. Basically, I took part in debate competition for the first time, so I was unaware of many things such as how to attract audience towards my topic and How to prove it correct.

Hindi divas is a day, which is celebrated to give importance to our language. We all DP Hindi students gave various speeches and other students performed skit, poem etc. I gave vote of thanks to everyone, who helped directly and indirectly to make this event successful.

Literacy day celebration has involved every member of DYPIS. There were many events which took place for this celebration such as silent reading, essay writing competition, bookmarks making competition. In all these events I took part to show gratitude to our Literature. For silent reading, I had brought a book of Shiv khera and for bookmark making competition, I have got all materials from my house. I enjoyed the competition as while performing these task, I have learned many things like how to make use of craft materials for book mark, how to make selected specific points for debate etc.

The learning outcome is that I have been able to judge my strength and has acquired lot many skills such as speaking in front of everybody with audience, the way of convincing audience, an art of reading and making craft. I have become aware that fear decreases the chances of winning so I need to be confident every time. I also developed the skill of taking intiatives and planning of tasks.

REFLECTION ON AUGUST NEWSLETTER

This time, I have worked as a reporter and have reported about the things happening in the Diploma Programme such as CAS work( service work in ashram),Talent show, election, status of students involved in making TOK presentations and extended  essay.

While reporting for the scenario of Diploma students, I felt that these days, they were too busy and tensed with the completion of the work assigned to them. For example making and giving TOK presentations, completion of extended essays.

Most students faced difficulty in completing their essay as some of them realized that their topic is not proper or they are unable to carry their research with that decided topic and there is a need to change the topic.
Some students went out of their town for the surveys and interviews.Because of which , they faced difficulty in completing their routine tasks.

But there were students, who have kept the deadline in their mind and have completed their essay on time and have submitted it to their advisors. At the same time, they have also given their TOK presentations to their teacher and have given it in the class also.

Even they also go to ashram for service work every Saturday for two hours and perform their tasks needfully. Even two of my classmates have taken part in the talent show, which was held in the school. Even, on 15th august, three students of diploma programme have become member of student council. Therefore everyone was involved in some or the other activity this month.

The learning outcome is that I became aware that, every one faces different kind of difficulty and one should just try to overcome it with easiness and should not lose hope. Once, even I was tensed with meeting of deadlines but as I started working with full pro activeness, I completed my essay and presentation on time .

CAMPAIGNING FOR REMOVAL OF FEMALE INFANTICIDE

Female infanticide is very common in many place of the country. People wishes for male child and adopt various method to have male child. Some questions always arise in my mind, such as how can a female abort a female child? How is she unable to understand the happiness a female child gives? How can she be so unkind to a new unborn baby? How can she forget that she herself is a female? Why doesn’t she think that if she would have been aborted by her parents during her birth time then?

Sometimes I think that she might be asked to do such crime under the dominance of her family or husband but still I think, doesn’t she have the dare to make her family understand? These all questions remain unanswered forever.

I also think that this happens mainly because of the poor thinking; people do not have the ability to think broadly. They think for themselves and for their own fortune. Why don’t they think that getting every baby is important and cheerful phase of life? There should not be any discrimination between genders. God have made genders for the different reasons such as different genders (males and females) act as a couple and stand in every obstacle together, they help each other, and they live for each other.

Just think once about only existence of male or females around the world, is it possible for one to survive? I don’t think so, the reason is simple, and women are associated with some work of life that men can’t do such as household work, care for her family, bringing up children. Can we expect this kind of roles from men? If yes, will they perform as efficiently as a woman does? Now answer is no. Everybody needs to accept the fact that women play a major role and their work is as equivalent and important to any other work done by men.

Even our Indian history has got so many female leaders who stood against so many men for the independence and freedom. Not only Indian histories but think about various women such Indira Gandhi, who did good things for the nation. Think about females who are involved in various sports, which are equally played by men. Today, if you look around, you will see various girls in different schools and colleges, who are learning and scoring same or more than boys. Then what is the need of cursing a female child? Why is it required? What makes you think that female child should be aborted?
Just try to think; if we give same importance and treatment as boys to girls, then don’t you think country’s productivity will be enhanced? It will increase the contribution to country’s development.

REFLECTION ON JULY NEWSLETTER

This time, I worked as an interviewer and took an interview of two new students in DP 1, who are from Korea. I planned and made questions before the actual interview. I felt that framing questions gives wider view and made me think for many perspectives, which I can ask or clarify to them during an interview.

During an interview, I felt that they were not hesitant to express their real view about school and new curriculum. I perceived that they were happy to study IB curriculum as it gives them more practical and real experience. They told me that, they never liked Korea’s curriculum as it had more learning component, whereas IB gives them chance to think independently and take decision on the result of their thinking.
I think, this activity has given me a chance to enhance my new skill and to learn of how to ask or make an interviewee comfortable. I also learned that, while taking an interview, if an interviewee is unable to understand the question, one should try to reframe the question in more convenient and easy way.

I faced little difficulty in conversing as they were not so fluent with Language, English. Still I tried to express my views through body language and by reframing the sentences. I also realized that they also take lot of effort to understand and interpret the conversation. The learning outcome is that I become aware about my skill and how to conduct interview and what measure I should take while taking interview.Through this activity, I have developed the skill of planning the task or activity.

REFLECTION ON PLANTATION

Plantation has become very necessary in today’s world. It will help us to restore our natural resources, which will further be beneficial for new generation. Since it has become a need to reduce exploitation of plants, we DP students thought to plant some saplings into our school campus. This activity was done under the supervision of Jackson Joy, CAS advisor.

This activity was divided between eight students and each student planted around 8-10 saplings. During planting, I felt that one need to dig ground properly so that these new saplings will have proper intake of food, water and sunlight, hence they will be able to carry out proper photosynthesis.

I also learned that one should remove plastic bag from sapling and then plant it and also after planting, one need to fill the left space with appropriate amount of soil. This will ensure that no harm is caused to sapling by high speed of wind or rain. Even we students discarded the plastic bag in garbage bin and did not put at the place of saplings.
After completion of this activity, we decided to take care of these small plants by proper supply of water and other requirements every day.

REFLECTION ON GROUND DEVELOPMENT.

We, the students of IBDP took the initiative to develop the sports field for our school which, due to some reason were not prepared. Having no playground was really sad as our little kids at school had to run about in the corridor or hop around in the small stony patch which was functioning as the only clear area. So we decided to build our sports ground under the guidance of our PE Teacher, Mr. Jackson Joy. We started with our research process, referring to many books and internet for the dimension of various sports fields.
Along with my classmates, I got involved in making a volleyball court, a football field, a cricket pitch and a 400 metre track around it. I have done lot of research on the dimension and marking of sports field. So I came to know that for standard International court dimension for football is between 110 to 120 yards in length and between 70 to 80 yards in width, for volley ball the length is 18 mts and width is 9 mts First, we decided the location for the football , volleyball and cricket ground. The ground available for us was measuring 173mts by 83mts.
After finalizing the location, we marked a football ground of 80 mts by 45mts and fixed the football post and decided to leave the space left for the cricket ground.

I feel that Ground development is a real task as it requires lot of physical effort and knowledge. Through this activity I gained knowledge of dimension of various field, I am very happy to be associated with this work as it will not only help me to use this information for building up such fields in future but my junior school friends will be benefited from these grounds and we will be remembered forever for this great work.
The added bonus was that, the new sporting fields have started to attract even those reluctant unsporting people to come and join in games like Volleyball, football, etc.

The learning outcome is that I have got a new skill of how  make basket ball court or football ground. I enhanced the skill of how to get information and how to apply it to make foundation of the ground. The ethical implication involved in this activity is that this ground will be utilized by the other students of the school. This ground will act as a platform for them to enhance the skill of sports.

SINGING SONG

Singing song during camp fire was very much challenging as I have not got a good voice for singing nor i have sung infront of so many people before. But as everyone got together and sat sown for singing,it encouraged me and became a real task for me. Before singing, I was confused with the selection of song and was tensed. But as my turn came, I prepared myself and forgot all my weakness and sung a rajasthani song with full spirit, and then I was so relaxed but I was happy that I did it, which is most important and one should give try to everything. I learned that confidence overcome every obstacle and felt that that is the needy factor within me.

RAFTING OF 14KM

Rafting was a good activity which I appreciated a lot among all the activities. i wore shorts with t-shirt as wearing full covered clothes was useless as it would have got wet . Then later on, for rafting we were given life jacket to protect ourselves and to be prevented. We did rafting for 14km.i was made to sit on the edge of raft and was given the role of paddling. It was fun and nice experience,on paddling I felt difficulty as water puts lot of pressure on paddle ,which restricts the paddle to move. I overcome that and tried to do it. I was successful in doing it and did for longer period of time. This instilled a quality within me of how to do paddling. I learned the way of paddling. In between of the way we were asked to get down of the raft for swimming and I got down twice and did swimming of a small distance as water was very cold which did not allow me to swim for larger distance. It was a nice experience.

ZORBING IN SOLANG

Zorbing was the activity, which was enjoyable and interesting. It was interesting as this was the first time that i have been in such a huge plastic ball, which rolled down of the hilly way. This activity took place in solang. Initially I was scared a lot as it was like a ball with which rolls very fast as it get down of the way. But as I went inside of it I was tied to it with belt and there was another girl with me, she was also tied with belts. She was made to sit however I was made to stand. As it started rolling, we started shouting, I felt I was rotating .but when it stopped ,I felt why didn’t it continue. as I was amazed with zorbing and was interested in doing it again. There were many students who layed down the ball .Seeing them,i felt like doing it,so i also layed on the way of the rolling ball and as ball went over me,i felt like something has pased me.

VISIT TO ROHTANG PASS

Rohtang pass ia a place, which is 42 km awway from manali. On way of rohtang, the weather was changed as it was raining and we were jam-packed. So we started dancing in between of the way, which was very enjoying and amazing as I felt that’s how one should go ,this made me confident and my shyness was vanished .Dancing in the way ,which is surrounded by snow was very much amazing as I have never thought of experiencing such dance. we received snow fall, which made atmosphere very cold. To survive in such cold weather was challenging but we were trained, so we were able to walk in snow we were there for longer time and that too without having wooly clothes that one get on the way to rohtang. I was in my normal jeans that I wear on normal temperature but was having a jacket with rain coat on it. Still I was able to be in that weather was a real task.

CLEANING CAMP-SITE

To prevent environment from getthing polluted, I along with my group members thought to clean camp site.We thought ,this will contribute to protect environment. Cleaning camp site was also a task, I was given a role to pick up all garbage and dump it in soil and dustbin. I was given gloves and mask to cover mouth so that no dust gets inside. I did job actively, I picked up all wrappers, I went in search for garbage and collected and dump it in dustbin.i dumped napkins and wet paper soaps into the soil. I cleaned toilets and filled all the buckets with water so that everyone uses washrooms easily. I felt I was very much successful as I did it very efficiently and camp site was cleaned .I came to know that I can do such kind of work, and I don’t find it to be bad or undesirable activity. Other members of, my group performed different role and participated actively and made the camp site cleaned. I felt difficulty in duping the napkins but I did it by forgetting that it is of someone’s else and dumped it. This was challenging but I overcame it and did it.

TENT PITCHING

Tent pitching was a real activity that one should learn .This activity help the one who does trekking and lives in tent. i learned how to make tent and how to place pecks and where one should make tent .I also learned that while making tent we should keep in mind some factors such as tent should me on such surface which allows water to drain through gullies and should not allow water to get inside the tent. And kitchen should always be away from toilets so that smell does not get inside kitchen area, which is very essential .This task is very beneficial as this can be used efficiently in hilly area and is useful and one can take care on its own. I also learned of how to pack the materials required to make tent. I l felt that I can make tent on my own now, which is required for every student to do after learning.

TESTING TRUST

Trust fall was a interesting activity as it tested the trust of me on the other members of the group, who were holding the mat. I had full trust that they will not make me fall but still it was a task and I did it by standing on rock and fell with eyes closed on the mat which was holded by all the members of the group. I felt that my group members were the one ,on whom trust can be done and I learned that I know my friends little bit.I was successful as I fell properly and they were able to hold me properly. Before attempting the task,we were made to practise of how one should fall and hold the one,who is falling on other members of the group. It was a little difficult as i was unable to fall properly but after trying many times ,i learned that one dhould keep body light and fall without taking stress .when i fell ,keeping this things in mind,i was able to perform task properly

GETTING INTO VISHIST KUND

Vishist kund is a hot spring and has water, which contains sulphur. This have been very challenging for me as I did not carry an extra pair of clothes and weather was hot. In such hot weather and getting into vishist kund was not easy but I want to try everything and I knew IB students are risk takers and takes challenges .So I borrowed the dress from someone and towel from another, then I got into the kund. It was very good experience .I felt it takes few seconds for our body to get into that hot temperature and then afterwards I was able to be in that hot water. It was very nice. I enjoyed and then changed nicely and got ready. There were many people who did not go inside of the kund but I went inside of it so I felt nice. I learned that nothing is impossible if one try to do, everything becomes possible

VISIT TO A GOVERNMENT SCHOOL

My group and I were visited to government school. We were allowed to interact with the students’ .As I was interacting, I came to know many things about them such as about their subject, hobbies, schedule. I came to know that they do household work such as sweeping, wiping, washing, and cooking. I felt that these work are not meant for such younger children, I felt that they are 9-10 years old and such kind of work at such early age is not good. I was satisfied that they are developed with subjects such as math’s, English and are also entertained with various functions such as annual function. I was thinking that these students know the meaning of what they learn. I felt sad that they did not know the leaders of country and why do we celebrate 15th august or 26th January. I was able to interact with students nicely and I learned that knowledge can be gained in every way but there has to will and determination to understand it.

LEARNING VARIOUS KNOTS

Learning various knots is also an experience and very helpful as this can be used during rappling, rock climbing .which is very useful during disasters. I learned many knots such as cloe vich, figure of eight.I have been very successful as I learned all the knots and was able to made when sir asked. This can be beneficial to others in a way of saving them from water, hill .This is very much important in hilly region for being saved from injury.

FEILD COOKING

Field cooking was one of the activity that I wanted to once in my life. Lighting Chula was one the difficulty that my group and I faced. i was given the role of breaking the wooden sticks for Chula and placing bricks around it. I felt some wooden sticks were wet which was one obstacle that did not allow our Chula to be lighten but then after trying a lot and placing sticks with pieces of paper and bricks around it allowed the Chula to be lighten. Then I was given a role of making plates .I went in search of large leaves and then made the plates of leaves. I felt that one need to be very good in choosing the size of leaves .So that leaves are of proper size and large enough to sustain food. Initially I was facing problem in joining leaves but as I tries ad started joining it in the way I felt then I was successful and I made plates which was good enough to sustain food. I felt this time my group members were very much co-operative as food was cooked nicely and was appreciated by judges.

Rappelling

Rappelling seemed to be hard but on attempting it, I felt that standing on the edge is the hardest part of the task and is easier than rock climbing .On getting down, one need to loosen the rope properly and keep the position of toes properly. I felt I was successful to large extent, as I felt I did more than my expectations. I came to know I am capable of performing this task and I also felt that these activities were new to me but if I do once again, it would me more proper and enjoyable. In this task , Gajanan sir, who is in charge of CAC camp helped me ,while I was standing on the edge of the rock. Overall task was challenging and I felt that one should experience such task. Both rock climbing and rappelling made us walk for 10 km as it was far from camp site.

ROCK CLIMBING

Rock climbing was very much challenging for me; it was the first time that I was attempting this task. It was very difficult as I was supposed to find points on rock and then place our body such that our hands and legs touch those points. I was unable to do it but sir helped me initially to climb the rock and then in between as I was climbing, I was trying to climb the rock by touching it with my toe, which was wrong so I came down twice. But then I tried and then climbed up, it was very challenging but I learned, how to climb and never loose. I felt that I lost hope and confidence, because if one keeps hope and confidence then one is not scared but I lost confidence and was scared a lot, which acted as barrier in attempting the task successfully. Next time, I will try to keep myself confident and will perform task correctly and efficiently.

PERFORMED A PLAY DURING CAMP FIRE

My group and I were asked to perform a play about the things that we learned from our visit to kaniyal village. As we have seen that village culture was dying ,because there were children who were affected by outside forces such as attraction of outside atmosphere due to use of television and then they were using most of the things, which were purchased by them from market .So we kept the theme as village culture dyeing and presented the play ,which was about a family who is owning some machines and as per the culture son is going to take care of it ,but as son is affected by outside studies ,he leaves the village and family forever for his job. I have performed the role of mother and i felt that it was very interesting and I tried to present a mother’s feeling and expression about her child leaving everything forever. I felt that if our play would have been in Hindi then it would have been more enjoyable .seeing play of other group, I felt it was appreciated more not only because of their theme but because of way of presenting in Hindi. I suggested this to my group members but one of the member was against of presenting in Hindi, so we performed in English. Overall there was cooperation between us and that’s why play was successful and was well presented.

CONVERSATION WITH VILLAGERS

On reaching kaniyal village,i along with the group thought to converse with villagers. So i had dialogue with Kala and her neighbours, who seemed to be happy with her life .I asked them many questions such as their occupation, their daily schdule, their requirements, their way of using things.they answered all questions.Initially they were not interested or were hezitated, but as i started talking repectfully and in their way , they felt that i am not stranger insted i am like their family member.I sat down beside them and politely asked everthing like what she does everyday ,so they answered that grass cutting, cooking, feeding cows, wood cutting, pouring seeds in soil, making use of cowdung, washing utensils. She even told me that there is soil degradation due to which only few vegetables can be grown and because of this most of the vegetables are purchased.Kala showed me her house, cows and allowed me to feed her cows.she also told me that she uses technology such as television, mobilephone. She told me that her daughter got marrried at age of sixteen,so i felt sad about it but then she was leaning till the time she was not married so i was satisfied with it.She asked me about my marriage so i felt that now she got mixed up with me and was happy to talk to me.I learned that everyone search for the person like oneself, and if they get little of similar person ,they interact will and like each other and thats why she showed me her house and asked me for tea and food.I was very much succesful without having much difficulty as i interacted well with her and i learned that i am capable of talking and making a stranger a kind of friend by beinglike them such as normal person and by not showing high class or attitude.Although i lovve to be simple ,i never pretend nor i show off as i know that these are the critaria by which i can have a good relation.I felt that i was able to have healthy conversation with them.

TREKKING TO KANIYAL VILLAGE

trekking was of eight kilometre, this time way was more risky as it was surrounded by forest and hills and if one slip then he/she will fall directly and chance of being saved were less. This time walking with group was again challenging, but because of everyone's co-operation and proper behaviour,we reached kaniyal village properly and safely.I felt i was not able to breathe properly and i was breathing through mouth and i was exhausted alot and i lost hope also of walking more. But taking rest in between of walk and by having water ,i completed my walk and reached Kaniyal village. On coming back, one of the member of group fell, but because of guidance of one of my group's member, she was able to come back.So I learned that co-operation and good behaviour makes situation easier.

TREKKING OF TEN KM

As i stated ,i was lacking in stamina. My group and i were made to walk for 10 km ,ihoped to learn many things such as walking for such large distance, walking in group, walking through the different kind of way such as plain road, stairs. As i was walking ,i felt walking in group is not easy as everyone's way of walking and speed is different. So if some student are way behind ,then others need to wait for them to join and then walk further. This walk has instlled lot may qualities in me such as how to be with the group, when to take rest , how to walk with young children.,what things are required on walk and how to make use of them.It also gave me idea of how one can behave while walking. This activity has been beneficial for me as this has affected my stamina and has made my body to get used to such walk. This has been beneficial to other people in my group in terms of stamina, learning things like how to behave on road while walking with others and strangers.I can apply this to my daily routine such as now i can walk rather using vehicle for nearby distance and can help environment by less polluting .

FIRST CHALLENGE ,ON REACHING MANALI

On reaching manali, i was supposed to reach camp site by walk along with the rucksack .Since this was the first day, i felt it was challenging for me as the way was not like a plain road but was like hilly way with lot of stones in the way.I was getting tired alot after every two minutes of walk and i knew that there was no choice for me,so i need to walk.Seeing other students and my sir,i increased my confidence and walked by drinking water and reached the camp site. I was succesful in reaching camp site as i did not fall nor i suffered from injury,it was just I was lacking in walk because of my low stamina.I hoped that my stamina will increase in next few days of trip. I felt that i am capable of walking such kind of way but as my stamina will increase ,i will not be tired so much and can walk more comfortably and easily and tiredness is one of the obstacle that restrict one to walk further.

SERVING FOOD EVERY AFTERNOON

Serving food was one of the activity that I along with my group performed everyday in afternoon.I along my group thought to do some some service so we decided to serve food every afternoon by the permission of camp incharge. I served chapatti along with the plate and spoon. Initially I used to serve one chapatti at one time but in few days I came to know the diet of various people so then I started serving according to it. I have been very much successful in serving as I served to everyone with smile and always welcomed people happily. There were no complaints from anyone, so I feel I was successful in serving properly. I learned how to serve so many people and how to be while serving. Actually I already felt that I can serve food to people because I have habit of doing this in many functions which used to be at my home and many people used to visit.I felt my group members were also involved actively in the activity.

EVERYDAY MORNING EXCERCISE

Morning exercise was very much effective.i along with my other group were made to do various exercises.Few exercise,i already knew as i used to do in Jim.Before doing exercise i used to feel tired ,pain in my toes ,laziness,But as sir guided and made us do exercise,i used to get energy back, pain and laziness used to get lost and i felt relaxed.Initially i felt a little shy but then i realized that everyone is doing so why shall i feel shy and then i also did exercise with full energy, enthusiasm, happiness. This exercise has been very beneficial as this prepared me for further walk and made my body temperature suitable to the environment of manila, this helped me to survive cold.i can apply this activity to my daily routine as this will keep me fit and will prevent me from various factors such as loosing energy.

CREATING FIRST NEWSLETTER OF DY PATIL INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL , NAGPUR

Our first activity of CAS was Newsletter .Through Newsletter; we wanted to spread awareness about, what is happening in school, views of teachers and students. We were successful in creating newsletter by the help of every student and guidance of our supervisor. Each student had their own duties, which they fulfilled as per requirement. Being an interviewer, I felt questions should be given a day before of interview as this provides teachers time to answer questions more efficiently. While taking interview, I came to know about views of headmaster and other DP teachers. It gave an idea what exactly teachers felt about school. Basically I took the interview David Udry, who is our headmaster and Anil kashyap, who teaches us TOk. This duty gave me chance to express and handle the responsibilities. This interview has been great help in a way to act as a professional interviewer in future. Through Newsletter, awareness has been created not only among students and teachers but also among outsiders

HELPING IN VIVEKANAND HOSPITAL TO PREGNANT WOMEN

For the service work in the hospital, I was placed in the maternity ward, where pregnant or women with new born babies were taken care of. This was the first time that I was meeting all these women under such conditions, so it was very essential to first talk to them.

I circulated among them and talked to almost every patient in Marathi although my command over the language was poor. Still I felt that by I was talking in Marathi, I could bond with them much more as they started seeing me as their friend or well-wisher. I liked the way they responded to me .I helped one woman in having cough syrup and water. Basically I started looking after the baby and let the woman sleep very well.

I also learned lot many things like how woman feel after pregnancy and how their relatives respond, what is their mental status after delivering the baby. I learned how people who do not belong to very rich family cope up during such occasions and how to behave with them in order to make them feel good.

CANDLE MAKING IN SCHOOL

Candle making is a new activity that I have learned. This activity involved everyone and has given the chance to work all together. Work was almost divided but everybody made their own candle. Actually this activity has cleared my doubt about boiling of wax as I was thinking to directly boil wax in water but as I did activity I realized that double boiling is required for melting wax. It was little risky as this was supposed to be done on burner but we all enjoyed it. Then we poured this melted wax along with the string in greased containers and kept for solidification. This activity was successful as it was solidified properly within proper shape and can be sold out to people in good price. Since we are intending to sell these candles to people, the money which will be collected will be given in charity for needy people so this will again help people to have food, clothes. I have learned that when work is done collaborate it becomes easy and enjoyable and it also gives us chance to know each others capabilities

COLLECTION OF CLOTHES FOR NEEDY PEOPLE

Wockhardt Hospital has been collecting woolen clothes for poor people to save themselves from this winter. So I have collected the clothes from the school and my neighbors and handed to marketing manager of hospital who will further take this collection to poor people. I announced in the school that I am making collection of clothes so kindly bring it; I went around the school and made students write in their diary about collections of clothes, so that they can show this to their parents and their parents contribute efficiently. This activity took me around five days as I was trying to have good collection of clothes. So I collected around fifty clothes .This activity has helped people who lack in having woolen clothes and I have seen that people do not contribute efficiently so it is very hard to make them understand the need of these people. Although I would appreciate the contribution from Rani, who is student of MYP has contributed in large number and I wish I would have got some more students like her. This activity was done only by me under the guidance of supervisor and marketing manager of Wockhardt Hospital

Reflection on visit to oldage home

This time, I worked collaboratively with Abhilash. Initially, we interacted with old men. We narrated them the story and showed few pictures. These old men were very much happy to see us with them. They were very comfortable to interact with us, they told us that they do enjoy be with us and they do want us to come every time to meet them.

Then after meeting with these people, we went to meet old women. There was one woman, who was constantly asking me to be with her. We all sat together and had conversation about the movie,' dhobi ghat'. This movie tells us a lot the city Mumbai.

The learning outcome is that I become of my skill of interaction with this old handicapped people. I took a new challenge, which gave me chance to acquire the knowledge about the emotions and situations that these old people go through. The ethical implication involved in this activity is that, this activity has given chance to help people, who really require happiness. I have tried them to tell good and current scenario through songs, stories and news.
