This time my two friends and I reached before all other friends so we started the class earlier than others under the supervision of Mrs. Purva Jha This time one of my students was not well so I had only one student to teach. To my surprise since last two weeks Bhushan has been very active in learning and listening to my guidance.
He had plans to learn mathematics so I started with the topic of Indices. Indices are the major topic that is needed to learn as it has its application in higher classes also. Since this was a new topic to him and also this was not taught in the class so I thought I should just introduce the lesson and teach few sums based on first concept.
Basically indices mean exponents, power and it is mainly called as raised to the power of. For example 52 will be read as 5 raised to the power 2.
My task was to teach him the meaning of exponent and what does it mean. So I explained him that power means the number of time base needs to be multiplied. In the above example, 5 is the base and 2 is the exponent or index. Therefore 5 needs to multiplied two times as power is 2.
This gave him clear idea and then as I gave him the few sums, he was able to solve. The difficulty level arises when base was in fraction. For example, (½)2. Here he was getting confused, so I solved few sums like that and explained it to him.
Then I gave him the questions based on same type. He solved all questions nicely. Then I felt relaxed and I ended the class.
The learning outcome is that I have understood that I am able to teach child in way, which is easy for him to understand. I have become aware that few concepts needs to be taught in slow speed and needs to be explained with different examples for better learning and understanding of the child. The ethical issue involved is that I am able to give knowledge to student, which will make him a good citizen of the country.

Hi Trisha,
It was great to see you teaching INDICES to that child. I particularly appreciate the way you made things clear with the help of suitable examples and then tested whether the child has understood or not by asking similar questions
keep it up.
With best wishes
Purva Jha
Thanyou maam for your comment. I have also enjoyed to work under your supervision.
