REFLECTION ON TEACHING STUDENTS OF ASHRAM

This time, my classmates and I were accompanied by our IB coordinator, Mr. Shiv Santosh Jha. This time, I had planned to proceed with the same lesson on profit and loss but as one of my students went to his place, I could not continue with it.

So I taught the other student Hindi grammar such as types of noun, pronoun and adjectives. Basically I taught him the way of identifying the noun, pronoun and adjectives with its type in a sentence. First I asked him, what is noun, pronoun and adjectives. He answered correctly for noun but he was confused about how to explain the difference between pronoun and nouns. He was even confused about exactly is adjectives.

So I felt that I should start with basic explanation of noun, pronoun and adjectives and then I should teach him the types of it.

Then I explained him with examples such as I told him that if I use his name in a sentence such as Sandeep is going to a park then ‘Sandeep’ is a noun and If I say the same sentence such as he is going to a park then that ‘ he ‘is a pronoun. Similarly I explained him the adjectives with an example of sandeep is walking slowly so ‘slowly’ is an adjectives. Then after this, I proceeded for types of it and taught him the types with examples.
I feel Sandeep is always eager to learn new things and he enjoys learning. Whatever I teach him, he always gives his response to it. This time also after explanation, I gave him sentence for identification of noun, pronoun and adjectives. So he was able to identify all of them. So I liked it.

I learned that one should teach or learn basic meanings first and then move to types or else learning and teaching of types becomes difficult.

Hi Trisha,

It was great to see you teaching Hindi grammar to that child. I particularly enjoyed the way you came down to the level of the child and made things clear with the help of suitable examples.

keep it up.

With best wishes
